Public Education

Making Connections -

Pedagogy is the science and study of how we learn.  The most effective teachers engage curiosity and provide the tools to facilitate discovery.

I have been fortunate enough to discover, what I believe, to be stories from the past that are as relevant today as they have ever been.  As an educator and student of history, I have found revealing relevance to be the key to the growth and maintenance of understanding.

While history has inherent value for many of us, the study of the past has the greatest impact and utility when it presents something new. A new perspective or a fresh path to the present.

I am energized by the challenge of an audience who would rather be someplace else.  To earn their attention and introduce them to something they never thought they'd care to know before - this is reward.

I invite audiences to participate in history.  To think critically about the past with both compassion and urgency. History, now more than ever, has the power and potential to strengthen our national identity by embracing discussion, controversy, and complication.  If human beings are complicated, their history is no different.
